First contact and access to the file
We verify the capacity in which you are summoned, what exactly is alleged and at what stage the case is. We study the file at the prosecutor's office and establish what you should state and what not. A lawyer's presence at the first hearing often changes the direction of the entire case.
The criminal investigation

I was summoned to the police as a witness. Do I need a lawyer?
Witness status can change during the hearing. A lawyer can tell you beforehand what obligations you have, which questions may be refused and how to avoid incriminating yourself. It is the cheapest stage at which to intervene and the one where intervention matters most.
What does it mean that the case is in the pre-trial chamber?
It is the stage at which the judge reviews the legality of the indictment, of the administration of evidence and of the investigation acts, before the trial on the merits begins. Objections raised here can lead to the exclusion of evidence, which can change the case completely.
What does a tax evasion case involve?
It usually starts from a tax inspection or a referral by ANAF, and the damage is established on the basis of the accounting records. The defence is built on two levels in parallel: the legal basis of the accusation and the correctness of the calculated amounts. For this reason we approach such cases together with the accounting expertise side.
Can the case be closed by paying the damage?
In certain situations provided by the tax evasion legislation, full coverage of the damage has effects on criminal liability, under strict conditions and limits. Whether this is an option in your case can only be established after analysing the file, not in general terms.
Do you also assist the injured party, not only the defendant?
Yes. We file criminal complaints, challenge decisions to discontinue the investigation before the hierarchical prosecutor and the pre-trial chamber judge, and join the proceedings as civil party to recover the damage.
