Practice area

Civil law attorney in Galați

We cover the area where most problems of private individuals end up: property and its boundaries, inheritances, contracts concluded between private parties and the repair of damage. We work both amicably, through negotiation or mediation, and in court, when there is no other solution.

How we can help

  • Actions for the recovery of property and for establishing the right of ownership
  • Termination of co-ownership and partition of common assets
  • Settlement of the succession, heirship certificates and reduction actions in succession
  • Boundary demarcation actions, easements and neighbour relations
  • Acquisitive prescription and registration of rights in the land register
  • Annulment and rescission of civil contracts
  • Tort liability and compensation claims
  • Insurance disputes and recovery of losses

How a case unfolds

  1. Checking the legal situation

We start with the documents: the land register extract, the contracts, the certificates. In property matters, most cases are won or lost on the quality of the documentation, not on the pleading.

  2. The amicable solution

Where there is room for agreement, we propose negotiation or mediation. They are faster, cheaper and leave relationships intact, which matters above all in family and neighbourhood disputes.

  3. The lawsuit

If no agreement is reached, we draft the claim, propose the evidence, including topographic or valuation expert reports, and represent you at first instance, on appeal and on second appeal.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the settlement of a succession take?

If all heirs agree, it can be done before a notary within a few weeks. If there are disagreements or heirs who cannot be found, the matter ends up in court and the duration increases significantly. The first check we make is whether the notarial route is still possible.

What does termination of co-ownership mean?

It is the procedure by which an asset owned in common by several persons is divided, either in kind, or by attributing it to one of the co-owners against payment of a balancing payment, or by sale. It can be done before a notary, with everyone's consent, or in court.

My neighbour built over the boundary of my land. What can I do?

It starts with a topographic survey establishing the real boundary against the ownership documents and the land register. Depending on the result, a boundary demarcation action, an action for recovery of property or an action for demolition of the structure can be filed. Deadlines differ, so it matters not to delay.

Within what time must I claim compensation for damage?

The general limitation period is 3 years and usually runs from the date on which you knew or should have known both the damage and the person liable. There are however special periods for certain situations, which is why it is worth checking concretely.
